2012-10-06 In the Beginning

I try to make it out to other bands' shows about once a week at least, and I try to drop a note on Facebook and Twitter to urge others to come check out those bands (not just us, even if I think we're pretty okay). And someone posted the picture below on Facebook, which has had me thinking about this even more.

Even if it's not us, I hope you'll treat yourself to an inexpensive and fun night out. I'll happily suggest bands if you're local, but sometimes it's fun just to take a chance and try out something totally unknown. We love your love, but as long as you're out there, showing that love to some worthy band, you'll make me a bit happier.

How can you take advantage of the fact that we've got more like dozens at our gigs (instead of hundreds) or show love to us? I'm sure you can come up with ideas, but there are a couple in the next sections as well. Thanks for your support, lovelies!

No, Really, Hang Out!

Remember last month when I said we should hang out? And then, if you were paying attention, remember how I invited you to do just that?

Our initial turn out of bands and fans didn't close the restaurant down, but everyone who showed up had a good time (not to mention the place had tasty food and drinks), even if I was a complete twit and forgot to take pictures of happy faces. So, we're going to keep doing it. Hopefully, more bands and more fans and more of all the good stuff. We're looking at a Friday, early evening, in the last half of October (either 19 or 26 October). Keep your eyes peeled!

Here are some bits of info, because some folks asked questions afterwards. Hopefully, this will make it easier for you to find your way to us. Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter (which you can look at without having to join either network) for the next invitation. (If you're subscribed to the newsletter, you should be seeing a note in your email as well, just like last month.)

  1. No, you don't need to know anyone in the band. I mean, it's cool to hang out with friends. But if that's all we wanted to do, we wouldn't make a public thing of it, would we? (The answer to that last question is "No. No, we would not.")
  2. No, you don't need to know anyone else there. You're welcome to bring a friend or whatever, but folks showed up solo last time, and I think they didn't feel left out. If you were just supposed to hang out with your friends, we wouldn't make a public thing of it ;)
  3. We're currently mainly looking at happy hour places around Queen Anne because happy hour is cheaper, because early happy hour means you can still go hang out after, and because Queen Anne is easily accessible without having all the parking and traffic issues of Downtown or Belltown.

What sort of things would you want to do or where would you want to hang out?

We're a Hit Machine

Jason once told a friend that we were going to put out a new song a month. It didn't happen at the time, but we appear to be on a roll now. Though it looks like we may not have a gig in October, we've finished up a song for it just in case. And we've started polishing up yet another new one for November. After so many months of no gigs, we figure a steady stream of new hits ought to ease your pains.

After the September show, the new songs both got compliments from assorted folks who came out to see us. In fact, each was declared the favourite song of the set by at least one person. That's seriously happy-making for us.

We'll see how long we can keep up this pace, but we're really enjoying the productivity, so we're hoping it will go on for ages. Whilst we're working on new songs, what else would you like to see at a show?

We know that what we'd like to see at a show is you.
