2012-06-02 That's How It's Gonna Be
Before we get to the rest of it, I thought you should know:
To celebrate the 6 month "birthday" of the release of Each to Each, we're letting you pay what you want for a week! Midnight PST 1 June is when it started. Choose your price, listen, spread the love!
If you've been paying attention to us here, on Facebook, or on Twitter, you know we're back in a busy groove.
Not that we weren't busy before, but we're doing things you can see again. Just check out the list of What's New on the home page. And that's how it's gonna be. I prefer it that way, after all. Just making noise in our practice space isn't enough. To me, it doesn't feel like the song is finished, like we've made art, like we've added to the world, until we step outside those doors (physically or virtually) and give things to you.
I'd write songs even if you weren't there, but it wouldn't mean as much. Not nearly. I joked early on with my awesome friend Sarah (who did the first design for our online stuff that was actually really cool) that we were going to take over the world and our fans would be our army. With a star for our logo, considering you the Varnish Army just made a silly sort of sense.
So how it's gonna be is like this: we're going to keep making songs, playing gigs, posting blogs/vlogs/etc and you are going to enjoy, okay? And if there are things you want to see or hear, you're going to tell me so we can work on it. Cos you are my beloved army, and you make the battle worth fighting!
Talk to us online or send an email. Tell me how we can keep the troops happy.

Say Hello
There were a bajillion emails, conversations, auditions, deliberations, and so forth...We saw some true talent and experience...And we think we've found our man. Please welcome Jon Loree as our new bassist. I'm hard at work to update all our online homes so that everyone can know about this, and will get a little bio for him up ASAP.
We're well chuffed to be fully armed (and dangerous) again, and looking forward to playing shows very soon. And, because we know that there are plenty of you who aren't local who are part of our army (see how much I love that idea?), we'll keep an eye out for ways to help you get to know (and hear) him. So far, we think he's pretty keen.
Battle Plans
Now that we're fully manned again, time to make battle plans. Practices, shows, gifts for you, merchandise, photos, and so forth. Now is the perfect time for you to speak up and make requests. Even if you don't, just know that hours and hours are spent daily scheming, working, blasting ahead.
We're excited, you know. We've been itching for more shows and more interactions and more more more. And, oh, songs are better with bass. Not just the ones that are built around the bass...but those are especially better. (I kept getting distracted during auditions, dropping lyrics, because it didn't take long for me to miss the bass and to be totally intrigued by having it back.)
So, we hope you'll hang with us online and at shows. We hope we'll hear from you. Because we want you to be part of the great energy this excitement has generated!

Thank you. Truly, sincerely, deeply.
