2011-09-03 We Like Girls

We'll get to the girls in a bit, don't you worry. But let's talk about other things first.

Coming off the high of our Showbox SoDo Lounge show, we went for something low-key and intimate in August. We hit the leopard print carpet at the Skylark, a show marked by us playing really well (we felt it and the fans there said it, so it must be true) and then stuffing our faces with some of the super tasty food there. Because some of us, especially me, won't eat in the hours leading up to a show (for my part, it makes it easier to sing if my stomach isn't full), we appreciate easy food options. (And, yes, they've also got good drinks. You should check them out, whatever you're craving.)

Online, where everyone can be part of the fun, there've been a lot of updates to the site. Until we catch up on our backlog, I'll be posting new gig pictures every Wednesday. We always love to get your pictures of our gigs, but now is an extra-perfect time to send those our way. In addition to the pictures, we posted our first vlog, added a live version of Dissolve Me (a song you've only heard if you've made it to shows) to our music player, and added a video clip from the Showbox SoDo Lounge show to our video page. You can always check the Home page for a list of what's new that includes links. Hurrah! We hope to keep up weekly additions to the site for at least the next couple months. Double hurrah!

One last thing, and then we'll get to the part where we like girls. As you can see by looking to the right on any page (see the Find Us box over there?), we have a mailing list. If you join our mailing list, we'll send you show updates and a monthly newsletter. Sure, you could read the newsletter via the archive or hope we just repeat ourselves in the blog, but there's no guarantee of the latter nor does the blog include the luxury of landing in your email inbox. Plus, we want to include something special now and again in the newsletter. Luxury and something special? How can you resist?

Now, onto the girls. Don't be disappointed (or concerned) when we tell you we mean girls aged 8-16. You see, we had a load of fun playing a lunch time show for the girls at the Rain City Rock Camp for Girls. These ladies were one of the most enthusiastic audiences you could hope for outside of a stadium of adoring fans. And they asked really good questions during the Q&A after. We unabashedly encourage you to support this cause (or your local version of the cause if you prefer). aNdi has volunteered at the camp for a few years now and loves it. And she and Amber got to catch the end-of-week show the girls put on. Really impressive!

As mentioned in the last blog, and tied in with the girls, we're moving forward with our plans to put on a benefit show for the camp. We are just now confirming the venue, the date, and the bands that will play. We hope to cram as many girl-fronted bands into the time as we can and earn some money to help Rain City Rock Camp include more girls and do even better stuff in the years to come. We'll send out a note via the mailing list and post a link on the Home page once we've got enough details to put up a page with all the info. This will be an all ages show full of diverse, great bands. We hope you'll come out to enjoy some killer music and support one of our pet causes! Cos we really do like girls :)

That's it for now. If you have things you'd like to see in the blog, the newsletter, the vlog, or anywhere on the site, drop us a note. Right now, we'll like you a little extra if you let us know what song(s) you think we should cover. (Maybe I should have a question of the month...If enough people reply to this one, I'll make it a feature. Fun times!)

Take care of yourselves, be good to others, and don't forget your daily dose of music.

xxx
Amber
